You stare at the night sky and you see million billions of twinkling stars. You see thousands of stars without the help of telescope and those are the ones that are closest to the earth. The milky way is the home of the Earth which are very big and the weight is 960 billion times as much as our own sun. But how many stars are there in the galaxy?
Our galaxy is not only the stars, but it’s also composed of clouds of dust, gas and dark matter. Till now, dark matter remains mysterious but gravity from dark matter affects stars as they orbit the center of the galaxy.
The faster the stars are moving, the more dark matter there is. It is believed that dark matter made up 90% of the materials in the galaxy. When astronomers look at the places where stars are born, they see tiny stars are much more common than massive ones. And the astronomers believed that there may be 200 billion and 1 trillion stars.
